Steven Paul Smith
Smith (popularly known through his stage name-Elliot Smith) was a famous American-born multi-instrumentalist and singer who enjoyed a very successful but short-lived music career. He was born in Nebraska in the late 1960s and raised in Texas before moving to Portland where he was an indispensable part of the famous Heatmiser band. He later pursued a solo career while still in Portland, Oregon. During his adult life, he struggled with MDD and drug and alcohol addictions. He died just a few years after relocating to Los Angeles from two stubs to the chest. Though his death remains a dilemma, he is remembered by many as one of the most talented musicians of our generation.
Beverly Atlee Cleary
At 103 years, Cleary is one of the oldest and most successful writers of the 20th and 21st century. Cleary who has sold over 90 million copies of her work was born in McMinnville, OR but her family had to relocate to Portland when she was six. She grew up and schooled in Portland before moving to California and later Seattle to pursue higher education. She currently lives in Los angel.
Brenda Lee Strong
Born in Portland city, Strong is a prominent actress who has featured in numerous popular films and Television series including Desperate Housewives where she was portrayed as Mary Alice Young. She also works as a certified fertility expert and yoga instructor and is considered one of the most prominent Portland-born actresses.
Matthew Abraham Groening
Last on the list is Matt Groening, a famous voice actor, cartoonist, animator, producer, and writer. Some of his works include three popular sitcoms namely Futurama, The Simpsons, and Disenchantment. He has won over 5 popular awards for his outstanding work of art. Groening was born in Portland city and is considered one of the greatest geniuses of our generation.
